Retro Wedding Favours Make a Comeback

Vintage and retro themes are back on the scene majorly from interior design to clothing, and even within weddings. It’s no surprise then that the sales of retro wedding favours have rocketed too. Below are some ultra cool ideas that are sure to make your blast from the past wedding go with a bang.

Our very own candy stripe tubs are lovely and are available in a couple of different colours to compliment your theme.. These can be filled with tempting sweets such as jellybeans, mini eggs or classic Haribo hearts. If you can’t choose, and we don’t blame you if you cant, you’re probably best off getting a variety mix. These look just like something that would’ve been available at a cinema showing in decades past, so enjoy having a slice of it on your special day.

Another cool idea is to channel the style of  ‘beside the seaside’ with multi coloured stripes and dots. The perfect favours for this theme are customised sticks of rock. Inside the rock you could have the date and venue of the wedding concealed, or the names of you and your partner. A mixture of flavours and colours look great on the table and add little name tags so everyone knows which gift is for them. Another sweet idea is to add pieces of trivia about you and your beloved on the reverse of the name tag, and if you’re feeling really ambitious then why not make some sort of quiz involving the information on those tags.

Surprisingly, another cinematic themed wedding favour is miniature boxes of popcorn, of varying flavours and colours depending on how brave you feel. If you have a wedding video to play at the reception this is perfect for guests to tuck into as they watch. Also available are those cute cardboard prints boxes so it will literally be like you have transported your guests back to the 1950’s.

For smaller weddings, why not give your guests a present. Younger attendees will think they are ‘quirky and retro’ whilst the older generations may actually still own an original one of these. What are we talking about? Old school pin badges like prefects at school used to wear. Available in every colour you can imagine, and with titles such as ‘Best Man’ as well as the ability to add peoples Christian names these are a classic touch.

Next up, an item you may of discounted due to it being ‘old fashioned’. On the contrary. You may be familiar with the saying “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” however, the end of that rhyme is actually “silver sixpence in her shoe”. This is traditionally known as a good luck charm and is usually given by the father of the bride, however, more recently you can buy boxed sixpences with the meaning enclosed and use them as favours. These are great for a nod to the past that holds a lot of meaning. The guests can keep their sixpences forever as their lifelong good luck from you and your partner.
