Our Favourite Wedding Themes for 2014

Choosing a theme for your wedding is by far one of the hardest decisions you will make about the big day. This is why we have given you a helping hand to some that are going to huge this year and into 2015 too. Depending on your budget our ideas can be amped up if you can, or alternatively downsized if you are having a smaller, subtle celebration.

Vintage

Very on trend for fashion in general, not only weddings and parties, this theme is pretty and customisable for each quirky couple. The vintage theme is quite pliable and really does allow you to go full throttle and morph your venue into a past century if that’s your style. Some little touches that we think look great for this are strings of bunting, either hung around the edges of your tables, or more traditionally hung from the ceiling. These are really easy to make yourself if you like the handmade vibe and also means you can choose fabrics that accessorize the colour scheme and flowers. Speaking of flowers, small, understated bouquets of seasonal fresh brights, tied with ribbon look really pretty in varying styles of milk bottles and glass jars. These look beautiful on the tables and the random placing of various sizes and flowers make the celebration less formal and also will enable guests to be able to see everything that’s going on, instead of peering around huge arrangements.  Chalk boards pointing guests to the correct table, facilities or even instead of a guestbook look great for the vintage theme. People love those alternative touches so don’t panic about it not being conventional, that’s what makes this theme so brilliant!

Natural Boho

This eco friendly option has become many brides preferable option over the past couple of years, although has evolved quite a pretty hippy-like edge to it, which is just lovely for spring/summer weddings. Think rustic countryside barns or large scale luxury tents with a small group of your nearest and dearest enjoying the great British weather into the evening with a live folk band playing on an outdoor stage. Lanterns are a beautiful light source for a party going into dusk as are the lanterns with small tea lights inside that you are able to launch into the sky. What could be lovelier than asking your guests to send their good wishes for your marriage into the sky and watching them float away. This concept relies on natural materials such as hessian and cotton as well as petals that can be used as a replacement for artificial tissue confetti. We’re thinking horse drawn carriage and daisy chains in the bride’s hair to really give a quintessentially British, laid back atmosphere for attendees.

Colour Splash

This does what it says on the tin and revolves completely around colour to make it a success. Bright and pastel block colours; no clashing patterns are the key to this theme. Fill the ceiling of your venue with different sized balloons to create a fun, inviting environment to celebrate within. The mixture of styles, fabrics and flowers here are allowed, the only part that is written in stone is the use of as many of the rainbow colours as possible. By doing this you are able to keep aspects like tables cloths just plain crisp and white which will make the colours pop more. For lighting, lay your hands on as many strings of fairy lights as possible. This makes the transformation from day to night looks pretty and subtle and with all the colour usage, keeps an adult atmosphere rather than one of an over the top children’s party. If you are struggling to choose a colour scheme this option is perfect, have them all.
