A-Z Guide to your Perfect Wedding: R is for…

RSVP

Typically, 25 to 30 percent of guests decline an invitation for whatever reason; however don’t take this as read. If, for example, your venue holds 150 people, don’t invite 200 assuming 50 won’t be able to come. Instead set the RSVP date earlier than you actually need people to respond by. This way if you have day guests on a reserve list you can still invite them in plenty of time (without them knowing they didn’t make the first batch). A typical RSVP will include the RVSP by date along with a line for the receiver to fill in their name (so you know who is responding) and two options to circle; ‘we would love to attend’ or ‘we cannot attend’. Most caterers/hotel establishments will need your final number at least 6 weeks prior to the date of the wedding.
